Product Description
Our BimmerWorld Rear Camber Arm Bearing Kit is the perfect upgrade for the rear camber arms on our E8X 1-Series or E9X 3-Series, including M cars. The factory rear camber arm, also known as the spring arm because it carries all the load of the spring and shock, carries a huge amount of the rear suspension load. The factory bearing/bushing setup in this location isn't always up to the task from a performance standpoint...When you accelerate, the weight of the car shifts back on the springs/shocks and directly to this arm. In a turn, the lateral load from your tires' grip goes straight through this arm. The more power and grip you have (engine mods and/or wide sticky tires), the more load this arm takes.
That's what a suspension link is supposed to do, so where's the problem, right? Well, while the factory put a nice bearing on the outside to resist the deflection of this highly-loaded arm, the inside gets a big, soft, rubber bushing. All these massive loads create relatively large changes to suspension geometry, including camber loss and diminished damper performance.
Does rubber in the inner location make the suspension noticeably cushier than our bearing piece? Not that we can feel. We assume that the factory piece uses rubber to help give some smoothness that we just aren't picking up on, some compliance to give rear grip in stock configuration, or to prevent the arm from twisting with a poorly-designed shock mount (non-M cars only). Quite honestly, we prefer to be able to precisely keep our geometry where we want it and make our own grip with good shocks and springs, thank you very much.
Our BimmerWorld E8X/E9X Rear Camber Arm Bearing Kit replaces the big rubber bushing with a high-end, factory-quality bearing with all the production car features you'd expect for your car - the most important being a grease-packed, sealed bearing for minimized NVH and a long service life!
Recommended for all track cars and tuned street cars wanting to maximize performance of an aftermarket suspension.
Sold as a complete kit. Installs into your rear subframe - we recommend a tack weld. Fits all E8X and E9X models, including 1M and M3.
