The Epic Motorsport Performance Software for the F87 M2 Competition, F80 M3, and F82/F83 M4 takes all of the best elements of the M3 CS, GTS, and GT4 racecar calibrations, and then blows past their limitations! The Epic M2/M3/M4 tune was developed with BimmerWorld on multiple F80 and F82 cars over several years and is now offered as a full DIY flash using the Engine Calibration Interface (ECI)*.
Our Epic Performance Software is so much more than just a reflash of CS or GTS software! We built our software tune with elements of both as well as the GT4 racecar we campaign in the IMSA and SRO GT4 series. Epic Motorsport knows there are higher limits that can be safely and reliably achieved thanks to their experience as one of the industry's only true engine tuners. Epic does not produce short-term gains to use in marketing material. We also do not ignore factory-implemented environmental limitations intended to protect your engine or unintentionally adjust maps or tables that we have a poor understanding of or that induce unknown variables. Epic software is a fully developed solution and we don't stop at "really good" or even "great" - our software is exceptional.
How exceptional? 84 peak hp and 107 peak ft-lbs more than stock! We more than double the torque gains of the GTS software between 3,000-5,700 RPM! The M3/M4 is capable of so much power and torque that it is a truly raunchy car to drive. At 3,000 RPM we make over 50 ft-lbs more torque than stock and by 4,250 RPM we're making 120 ft-lbs more! Without traction control on, be prepared to correct with both throttle and steering immediately because this car has earned the nickname, White Knuckle Thrill Ride!
There is so much instantaneous torque available in the first few gears at low RPM that we couldn't smoothly launch the car. We have spent months on the throttle mapping alone with literally hundreds of iterations, rescaling, and remapping to refine and smooth the torque delivery. In Efficient Mode the car behaves much like stock but with clearly more torque and power. Regular Sport Mode is the sweet spot for our driving preference. But if you really want to unleash it and hold on, Sport Plus mode is still a usable map that will take your breath away. Additional software tuning between ECU and DCT results in better clutch engagement.
We also retained several GTS and GT4 elements in our software:
- 91 or 93 octane files: 91 is our minimum but if 93 is available we can make slightly more power with a more aggressive tune.
- Recalibrated Sports Display: the iDrive Sport Display has been rescaled to accurately reflect the new power and torque changes
- Exhaust Burble (optional): The car now has a very pleasant exhaust burble when you decelerate off-throttle, and under hard acceleration and then snapping off throttle, the exhaust cracks like a GT racecar. This is more pronounced with each Mode - relatively quiet in Efficient, bigger pop in Sport, and a firecracker snap in Sport Plus. Theres a little extra throttle blip on startup too. This is standard on our Epic tune but can be left to stock by special request.
- GTS Steering (optional): The stock steering is too light and over-boosted and we feel the GTS steering effort is just right. This is standard on our Epic tune but can be left to stock by special request.
- GT4 Track Elements: We have retained several GT4 features that make our calibration even more suited for track and performance use, for extended periods of time, and without costly damage in the harsh track environment.
