This E36 sedan carbon trunk lid is a true motorsport race part - ultra light and rigid. It weighs only 11lbs! The design replicates the stock trunk lid so it blends in with the factory body shell. The original trunk hinges and taillights from your stock trunk can be transferred over. This trunk also comes reinforced for use with the BimmerWorld rear wing using a 41" center (custom dimensions can also be used).The trunk is a great place to save weight since it's high up on the chassis and hangs past the rear axle. Most of the time the stock trunk lid needs to be reinforced to run a GT-style wing anyway. That is time consuming and adds weight back into the trunklid. This E36 sedan carbon decklid saves weight and has been designed to work with our BW carbon wing.
BimmerWorld race carbon parts are designed solely to improve performance. Surface finish and appearance are not priorities in our racing parts. Carbon may be unfinished or sometimes with a minimal clearcoat (for UV protection). You will not find high gloss finishes here for style points. If your priorities are a show car shine there is no shortage of cheaper carbon-wrapped fiberglass or plastic pieces on the market. These are usually loaded with fiberglass, filler, resin, and many clearcoat layers that make them too heavy or not rigid enough for real world competition use. If you wish to apply a finish we suggest vinyl wrap or a light filler skim coat and then paint. In any case, professional prep and installation are strongly advised. Our carbon pieces are Made in the USA by a composites manufacturer with years of top-level motorsports expertise.
This is a racing part for motorsport use and certain attributes normally found in street car parts have been eliminated. There is no provision for the factory trunk latch and handle. For finishing, we recommend vinyl wrap or paint and clearcoat after additional surface prep by a professional body shop. Made to order in the USA. Please allow 4-6 weeks for delivery.
Truck Shipping required. Due to the large proportions of this trunk lid, it must be shipped by common carrier / trucking company. The box required is too large for UPS/FedEx/Post Office.
